$100 Thunderbird

Thunderbird-Opened September 1948. A giant Neon, multi-colored Thunderbird was perched on the desert tower lookout. It was a perfect mate for the nearby Neon Flamingo just down the road. In looking at the strip at night one would see the Thunderbird, the Flamingo, the El Rancho's windmill and the neon red pegasus of the Mobil station. Together these unplanned showing of bold colors and marvelious symbols gave the strip a distinctive look. This sight was the birth of the "street of lights". Although there are 2 or 3 of the chip pictured known, only the one shown here is un-notched.
