El Cortez- Opened in 1941. Sold in the mid 40's to mobsters Meyer Lansky and Bugsy Siegal. This was their first foray into Las Vegas Gambling. Sold in 1947, the duo took there profits and rolled it into the now famous Flamingo. Although not a fancy or classy place these days, it still possess its old charm as one of the only unchanged little downtown clubs. The chip pictured here is from the 5th issue and is the only $100 chip known from the rare conquistador issue. |
